Place Vendôme, wanted by King Louis XIV, is defined by majestic proportions, a pronounced sense of symmetry, and its octagonal shape, unique in the world. This square is one of the most emblematic of French architecture of the seventeenth century. Napoleon came to enrich it by erecting in the early nineteenth century, at the end of his victory at Austerlitz, the Vendome Column, made bronzes of the canons abandoned by the Austrians after the battle.
S.T. Dupont was inspired by this mythical place, which today houses the shops of the most famous French jewelers, to create a new limited series of exceptional products, adorned with added metal pieces, sumptuous cornices, precious hematites and with a subtle gray lacquer color, enhanced by a luxurious palladium finish. The lighters echo the aesthetics of the buildings in the square, the pens to that of the column. On the lighter’s trainer and on the body of the pen is engraved the famous quote from Napoleon: “Impossible is not French.”
This unique Limited Edition consists of a Line 2 lighter, two Olympio Extra Large pens, fountain pen and roller, and an ashtray.
Lighters and pens are numbered on 1810 with reference to the date on which the Vendôme column was erected by Napoleon. The ashtray is numbered on 810.
